In the most formal sense, cadastral mapping is a detailed graphic representation of land ownership, showing boundaries, precise locations and physical features denoting the properties. This map information is generally assumed to be annotated with tabular or textual information relating to the ownership, dates of title changes, value and other .

Aerial images combined with LiDAR data are offen used to generate seamless digital orthophoto as a base map for cadastral mapping applications. As long as digital products out of georeferenced aerial images and LiDAR data are produced in the same coordinate system they can be successfully combined with other cadastral data. In this way, it si possible to determine how up-to-date cadastral data are. Digital orthophoto (especially true orthophoto) was found suitable for delineating and measuring the individual parcels information.
