System for spatial data distribution in EPS
In the period 2007-2011 MapSoft collected a considerable amount of spatial data (digital orthophotos, digital topographic maps) in the mining basin Kolubara and Kostolac. The integration of these data and creation a system for the distribution was the next logical step. The aim was to allow users in these public companies to have access to available spatial data (visualization of data and metadata) and to facilitate their ordering. Spatial data relate to all types of topographical, geological, planning and other cartographic data, as well as all the alphanumeric data associated with spatial elements shown on these substrates.
System for the distribution of spatial data allows more efficient management of physical resources, controlled way of managing spatial data and centralized solution that allows for easy distribution of spatial data .
The system for distributing spatial data consists of several parts:
- spatial database,
- system for the administration of spatial data
- system geovizuelizaciju spatial data and
- system for ordering existing spatial data
Development software platform:

All spatial data are geo-referenced to the state coordinate of Serbia. The basic element of spatial data is layer.
The metadata that apply to the layers are divided into:
- metadata cataloging
- metadata display style and integration of system for distribution
For the purpose of cataloging, the layers are systematically classified according to the following attributes:
- site (Kostolac, Kolubara, Serbia ...);
- category (vector, raster, document, ...);
- periods (2007, 2011 ...);
- scale (2500, 1000 ...).
The vector layer is a set of spatial entities that have their own attributes and geometry, nestled in the table spatial databases. For compatibility with other systems with which system can exchange data, established the convention that a vector layer corresponds to a table in a spatial database, which is a required field geometry type, whose values are unique type of geometry (point, (multi) lines (multi) polygon) to the table.
Raster layers are stored in the file system as compressed ECW files for optimal use (efficient renderer works raster of interest). A raster layer is a set of ECW files and their arrangement is defined in the configuration (ASCII) file with the extension MRD. In addition, in the database, for each vector ECW file stored on the definition of the space which comprises a layer of the raster is automatically created which comprises the corresponding view of the ECW files, as defined in the MRD.
